SCHOOL ORGANISATION

Our school admits children from the ages of 3-11 years. Our nursery education centre is an area provision which admits pre-school children from the surrounding catchment who may or may not continue their education in Meadowbank. A total of 60 part-time places are available ( 30 morning and 30 afternoon ) and in addition there are 15 special needs places which are filled from across the whole of the Wigan borough the special needs children in the nursery are fully integrated throughout the day.

In the mainstream school the classes are organised in year groups reception to Y6.All the teaching is planned within an overall Curriculum Framework, the majority of which is delivered in each child’s class by their own class teacher. This enables each teacher to organise the very best arrangements for the most effective and efficient way of delivering the child’s experience in terms of all areas of the curriculum.

Two teachers share the responsibility of teaching Y1, and our specialist music teacher accesses each class during the week. Our three full-time NNEB staff work with small groups of children or on a one-to-one with individual pupils, providing additional support for those that need it.
